Fortinet releases new update
Fortinet has released an update to its operating system, FortiOS 7.0, which, according to their website, enables secure networks, endpoints, and clouds to keep you ahead of threats throughout your infrastructure. The features of this update offers better risk management, reduction of management complexity, sharing of threat intelligence, and automated self-healing networks with AI-driven security for fast and efficient operations.
New capabilities the update brings are as follows:
Fortinet Secure Access Service Edge (ForitSASE): Features an X-as-a-Service delivery model with existing technologies and systems, and provides a consistent and adaptive security posture at every edge of a user's network, while delivering enterprise-grade security via cloud-based consumption.
Fortinet Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA): Feature allowing customers using FortiClient to employ ZTNA capabilities right out of the box for a better remote access solution than VPN, gives application security, and simplifies management by using the same adaptive, application access policy whether users are on or off the network. ZTNA also provides zero-trust principles of ongoing verification and limited access for remote workers and applications.
FortiGuard Video Filtering and IoT Real-time Query: Provides more granular protection to the video-intense content consumption patterns driven by work and learn from everywhere, and enhanced device security offering to include real-time query for IoT devices to better assess and address the risks from device proliferation.
The new update also features enhancements that include:
Self-healing SD-WAN with enhanced 5G support
Integrated Wi-Fi 6
Unified management for hybrid and multi-cloud deployments
Endpoint detection and response (EDR)
Extended detection and response (XDR)
FortiOS 7.0 has also corrected several issues, a complete list of which you can view here.
